MORE cat problems! by kazzzz on 5 August 2007 8:44am

Just when I thought my cats were settling down to some sort of normality, my black cat has developed a rather dangerous habit. She has decided that she likes chewing through electrical cords. I have found teeth marks in the wires behind the pc, the lamps, the fridge and basically everywhere! I don't have a safety switch installed as I am renting the property and the agents won't do it. I turn things off, but things like the fridge have to stay on. Last night I went to watch a DVD to find that she had completely chewed through the yellow plug on the DVD cable, thankfully it was unplugged at the time. We're terrified that she will electrocute herself, she just can't be watched every second:( Any ideas?

My only suggestion would have to be that you get rid of her. I don't mean that unkindly but you are really talking about serious safety issues. And why is she just 'the black cat' ? Maybe if you gave her a name she would stop trying to kill you ! ;)

if there are ikeas in oz buy some of these grey cord protectors that they sell, i don't think that a kitty cat can chew through them. alternatavly... buy her a chew toy?

She's black now, but hitting the right wire will show her true colours!

My rabbit didn't electrcute herslf, but sure used a lot of my time repairing chewed wires.

Oh my goodness, that is so scary! I sure hope you can help him break the habit, wouldn't want him to get hurt!

I'm sure Anne. I'm not a particular cat person and I sure would'nt have one trying to kill itself and possibly me.
