I Know... But I really must ask again... by Wheelrim on 8 October 2007 5:54pm

I have asked before, and I am not frightened (sitting in the comfort of my Staffordshire home) of asking again, so, here goes, has anyone got a Tape/DVD of Simon Drings `On the Road again` series?
I promise this will be the last time..........Honest, cross my heart and hope to...er .. d

Sitting not so comfortably in my home that is nowhere near Staffordshire (although I was raised just on the border) I have to confess that no, I don't.

Simon Dring was/is(?) a BBC reporter. At age 16 he told his mum he was off to France for a `couple of weeks`, but just kept going, hitch-hiking to Kathmandu. a few years later he started work for the BBC as a war correspondent and his boss said to him, `hey, do that trip you did again, but take a tape recorder and we will do a radio show on your travels` He did. Many years later the Discovery Channel and the BBC Commisioned him to do a 6 week series for TV, he set off again, this time in a red Jeep Wrangler and had a Landrover in tow with a small film crew, it made great viewing as he met up with old friends he had met previously many moons ago, as well as the new travellers, you can get the book easy enough, the vid/DVD is a different matter, it encouraged me to do a similar thing, so holds good memories. the music for the series always began wit Canned Heat singing `On the Road again`!

Oh I love that song!! I had a letter printed in the Daily Mail a few years ago about my son finding a track of it on a collation tape and dismissing it as 'old fogey music' !!

I ask you - Canned Heat old fogey music? Never!!
