Quite amusing! So is the Reagan map.

Great map .... and I see NZ doesn't rate a mention at all. Probably because Helen Clark refused to join the scramble to invade Iraq!

It was amusing, not in a "ha ha way", but it was also sad. I hate to say this, but many American kids would have a similar view.

He knows where the Sahara desert is? Gee, he's smarter than I thought!

I don't know how many American kids would have this same world view. Up through the 6th grade, most of them couldn't care less about geography. The ones I know live in these online fantasy worlds and are pretty clueless about what's going on around them.

It's not just the kids who don't know where things are- kids' ignorance is just highlighted because adults get mad when our ignorance is exposed.

We know as little as they do, I bet.

I love the description of Canada: "Just like the United States - Except the French part over here". LOL!

Most of the kids I know are pretty articulate regarding the map, but they all go to my daughter's uppity private school and have been learning about such things since pre-k. They are in the 3rd grade now and even know that the word Arctic has a "t" in it...
