A Very Michael Moment by my dear on 14 April 2003 5:24pm

Last night I was invited to the house of a French family for supper.

Somebody once said to me that the French don't casually invite people into their homes, and that if one finds oneself invited to a French person's home, then apparently one is in for life. In other words, the invitation means you become like a member of the family.

I was honored by the invitation... until the first course of the meal arrived.

It was a soup made of the foulest smelling offel that my nose had ever been introduced to. My stomach wasn't too happy with the dish either. In fact, my stomach is presently forming a major protest, and is considering a boycott on all products from France.

My first thought, as I began to eat the soup was: 'This is going to make me ill. Don't eat it.'

My second thought was: 'Ah, but what would Michael do in such a situation... he'd damned well eat the soup, of course, and just keep his mouth shut.'

So I ate the soup and kept my mouth shut. Well, I had to open my mouth to pour the soup down, of course.

What a fantastic Michael moment it was.

Excuse me while I go and throw up for, like, the tenth time.

I had a similar experience.
I was invited to my friend's aunite's for New years Day dinner.
Being Aussie, I like my meat cooked until it's the colour and consistency of coal!
Lamb was served, pink throughout. I consider it the ultimate sacrifice that I ate the whole plateful...WITH a hangover!!!
