Election Night Special by Katia on 2 March 2008 10:25pm

Hello Palinites,

As I cannot join my little Kisch in London this time (my work does not allow me to take a break now), I am left to follow The President election night here.

Now the preliminary results are being displayed and clearly the current President's candidate has won.

To commies: *no pasaran* :-P :-P :-P etc.

It was not so predictable as it seemed to be so I now can give a sign of relief. I know "the current President" is not hugely popular in the West but if you looked at the alternatives, you would be just scared!

We even have our Silly Party (who call themselves liberal democrats) with their immutable Silly Candidate, a charismatic showman whose pre-election speech sounded like "everybody will have their own house and will be earning 1000 pounds a month!" - sadly, not a single word about how he would have managed that...

And there was even a young mason, who I know nothing about except that they are supposed to use a fancy handshake to recognize each other:-))) He won 1.5% and I would like to meet one of those to learn it!

And the commies (Scary Party!) are now sulking :-)))))))) The electorate they were counting on consists mostly of old ladies whom the Pythons portrayed in sketches like "Take Your Pick" and who still keep portraits of Uncle Joe for icons. And they are not afraid of building of a new Iron Curtain because they have never heard of such thing...

So you see, there are so many Python references in this event, that is why I decided to post here first thing:-)

Now to bed.
Yours,
Katia

Now this explains the elections better than any news I've read so far :) Thank you Katia!

Lovely, Katia, thanks. Congratulations to the new President.

I see from my newspaper our PM is to phone & make friends - hope they do!!

(Shouldn't they take their cue from us?!)

Thank you, Linda, they most certainly should!

You know what I am doing now, dear? Booking a hotel in Ealing Broadway. Actually Peter is doing that, bless him. Have pre-booked the flights too. Will let you know as soon as it is all sorted. Cannot wait to see you again - and possibly, not just once!

And oh, thanks again from my mum, she is still "savouring" the jelly in microscopic doses (could you imagine that?). She's asked for a recipe, by the way. So I will be coming with a paper and a pen!

Your mum will have another jar of jelly when you & i meet again, Katia. yes, keep me posted - we're away in April & May but only some of the time.

Pity you can't be here tomorrow with Kisch!!

PS: which jelly did you take for your mum? I make a lot of different kinds, and she's welcome to any recipe. A pleasure. I am flattered to have compliments from her - I bet she's a really really good cook herself.

Which one I took? I wish I knew! A pinkish one, no, salmon-coloured. Must be apple.

Pity I can't be there, yes. And on the 7th, too. Say hello to the gorgeous man for me won't you! I am still boasting of the treasured autograph he gave me at the Canary Wharf (in the Diaries): "To Katia - the past... and the future!" Should mean we'll meet again all right, I said :-)

So have fun with the silly little thing tomorrow, she is full of anticipation!

Love
Katia

We can choose from Ole Biscuit Barrel Obama (Sensible Party), or Wim Tim Lim Bim Tim Clinton (Silly), or John McCain (Extremely Silly).

How would you characterise ol' party pooper Nader, then, Cori? (I can never think of these witty names myself...)
