What's the Funniest Thing to Happen to You on Holiday? by Gina on 18 April 2003 9:45pm
OK, has anything really funny happened to you while travelling?

I was visiting a friend in Australia, and we were hiking through the Blue Mountains. We stopped at a lookout point which was full of people, and I was innocently admiring the view, when all of a sudden, I felt this urgent tugging on my sleeve, and it was a man who was shouting at me in Japanese! Judging by the look on his face and the tone of his voice, I thought there'd been an accident! Was someone deathly ill? Had someone fallen off the cliff?? I was completely confused and he was pulling me over to this big rock, where he made me sit down. Then, I looked up. There was a video camera on a tripod, and another Japanese man with a camera around his neck and he had a broad grin and was waving at me furiously. I was being captured on film! I burst out laughing...and waved back. So, I ended up on some Japanese guy's home video! I wonder if I ended up on a TV show called "Japan's Funniest Home Videos"?

Ooh, I think I have one I can weigh in with for this thread.

Years ago, I went on a holiday to Cairns with my family. My brother was only a kid at the time, and a bit noisy and hyperactive.

Well we went to Green Island on a day trip, and one of the attractions at Green Island at the time (probably still is) was a HUGE crocodile (something like 16 feet) they had. Well, here we are, walking through the crocodile viewing area, which was just some big cages made of that cyclone fencing stuff that regular garden fences are made out of. In most of them were ponds with several small crocs swimming around.

Anyway my hyper brother is dancing up and down the walkways being generally annoying to all and saying "Where's the big one? I can't see the big one!!" when he backs up against one of the fences. Next thing there is this long, low, deep, loud growl from behind him, and there is this MASSIVE croc with it's nose up against the other side of the fence just millimetres from his legs.

Well! I SWEAR my brother just... pooed!! If he didn't he was awful close!! I had been standing just a few feet away from him and had seen the croc before it made the noise - and I nearly burst a valve laughing, honestly.

That will teach him for being annoying!

Another Aussie story. As one of a hundred cyclists riding through rural New South Wales one morning about four years ago, we were going past a farm where a herd of sheep were getting their own back and chasing the sheepdog.
It was hilarious watching a hapless border collie being steered by a posse of Merinos. Funnier still was when the old farmer, who was absolutely drunk - despite it being before lunch, drove up in his ute and fell out. He picked himself up and staggered over to about six of us who had now gathered and said: "'ere f**k off you kids. Don't you think I've got enough problems?"
He must have thought the sheep and the dog were performing for us. I wish I had a video camera. Lucky that I had a few witnesses!
