This site can be infuriating ! by johnnythemonkey on 10 June 2008 12:17am

I typed a post about 70's fashion and my life in that doomed decade but as my typing is painfully slow, the post did'nt register and I had to sign in again ! Apart from me learning to type faster ( I'm trying my best ) is there any solution to this ?

Before you hit 'submit', copy the entire entry to another place, like MS Word or something so at least you don't lose your work if the site does that to you.

Thanks Palin_ Lover, when it happens I accept it as fate as I've probably typed rubbish but I thought the post I tried to make might've invoked a few memories and raised a bit of laughter. It was just me talking about what we wore in those days and some of my experiences.

That's happened to me on a number of occasions here and I now copy and paste anything where time has elapsed. I am always aware of that happening to me now. You really needn't even paste it to another place. Just copy it and hold while you get yourself a new window to use in the thread you were in.

I hate typing a quick post in a thread and getting "You just posted. Wait a minute and try again." That's not so bad, but it wipes out my entire post! I copy the long AND short ones, now.

Judy, you can get around it, by using the back button. it should still contain your message. Then, just wait a little while before hitting submit button again. Works for me everytime. .

While discussion of the site is going on it just seems appropriate to me to thank Patty for all of her hard work in compiling 'Vital Statistics' (and probably other techie materials I'm not aware of.

This work of hers is entirely voluntary, and it's just so much appreciated.

Excuse if I seem a bit dense, so I should just copy the post and if it does'nt register, paste and resubmit ?
I got my youngest daughter to type something for me yesterday ( not here ) and her speed amazed me, at least 10 X mine.
