Happy Solstice! Not too summery in London - big clouds have formed.

Happy Solstice. It is clear skies and another hot sunny day in the Old Pueblo.

It's still an hour and 56 minutes away as I write this. Dang. I was planning on dancing naked around a bonfire while I strewed herbs around, but in broad daylight, I'd get arrested. And I've got a PT appointment, anyway. Bummer. ;-D

Has anyone read 'I capture the Castle' by Dodie Smith? It's a bit precious these days but there is a well-written scene where the heroine DOES celebrate solstice.

I attended one given by some potters who sold their wares at a farm cum artists' collective near my home. But all it was was a bunch of morose former hippies throwing McCormick's sage into a pitiful little fire and grousing about how spiritually dead the rest of the world was. When I suggested we all strip and dance around the fire, they just looked at me as if I'd grown a second head. Oh well...

Haven't heard of that one no, but I might try and find it, sounds like my sort of read:)

There was a film a few years back, Kazzz with Bill Nighy & the actress who played the younger sister in 'Atonement'

If you like Britfic of the 1930s, this will be for you. Quite a nice love story there, too.

Judy, your 'hippies' sound very wimpy. If they can't celebrate in earnest when they are at an appropriate set-up when are they ever going to?

Oh I LOVE Bill Nighy..will definately look this one up.

Apparently over 30,000 people went to Stonehenge on the solstice. Awesome.
