Time by peripatetically on 9 March 2009 11:05pm
It seems so odd now that we have extra light during the evenings. I just glanced at the clock and its later than I thought!

Have any other countries that are represented here changed their clocks yet this year? I realize not all of them do.

We change ours on March 29th, I think. "Spring forward, Fall back"!!!

Yes the days are getting longer - it always amazes me that just a few short weeks ago it was dark before 4 p.m. and already it is light after 6 p.m.!!

Great for us gardeners, more daylight to do things in afternoons: like your phrase, Anne, will adopt it! - Not come across it before.

My bodyclock always objects a bit when they go forward - I have a bad sleeping pattern anyway.

I too, Patty, would be interested to know which countries don't do this.

geordiegirl: You're perhaps suffering from "season-lag".
Here's another Spring northern saying you have probably heard often:
"Ne'er cast a clout till May is out!"
That's because there can be some chilly days during April and May.

Apparently this one dates back to 1732.

Yes, Linda, the time change affects my pattern of sleep too. Clocks, I don't really know about. I go to sleep when it gets dark and rise when I awaken. Oh I have a clock, it is there to help me interact with the rest of the population.

We need to send MATRON after whoever thought time changes up. I haven't been right since Saturday. :P

Dark BEFORE 4pm? Argh, I'd never make it living in the UK.

I *hate* Daylight Savings Time! Just as the mornings are getting light at 6am and my brain is starting to emerge from being in neutral most of the winter, they have to plunge me back into pitch-effing darkness for a month. I'd much rather have it light in the morning until the beginning of May or even June.

I've been feeling jet lagged for the past 3 days.

How does one "cast a clout"?

We don't change our clocks, here, just have to follow everyone elses changes.
Re: Time by kazzzz on 11 March 2009 6:32am
I think our clocks change this weekend (or the one fater maybe) I love Daylight Saving, I like being outside in the evenings when it's cooler but you still have light. Ava is very fair skinned and for most of the day we have to be indoors so we really use the evnings as much as possible.

Well, not pitch black before 4 p.m., Judy but dark enough to shut the curtains and put the lights on.
