Random Fish Called Wanda question by LeoLouise on 28 March 2009 2:20pm

By any chance does anyone know what species of fish Wanda is (Not Jamie Lee Curtis you understand) but the angel fish that gets greeted by Michael at the beginning of the film....??

According to this site (you have to scroll down a bit) Wanda was an Angel Fish. Which is what you have said anyway.

Or did you want to know what specific type of Angel Fish?

May one ask why?

:)

Thanks for the link

I was hoping for the specific name of the species, if thats possible.

I am hoping to re-create the aquarium as seen in the film

Sad I know :)

Yes,indeed,Wanda was an Angel Fish. But you knew that of course.

LeoLouise, you are obviously asking what type of angel fish Wanda was?

Well, there are 12 different types of Angel fish:

http://www.funfishtank.com
Black angel

http://www.theangelfishsociety.org
(strictly for angel fish enthusiasts like yourself)
Black lace

chocolate
Koi
Altum
Clown angel
Marble
Golden marble
Zebra angel
Silver angel
Half black
chocolate ghost

Does that go any way to answering your question? By the way,I don't think your idea is at all 'sad',in fact I think it's blooming marvellous to have an aquarium.

Thanks,LeoLouise, best of luck with your project.I think your guess may be right.

From the transcript/A Fish Called Wanda,Collectors Edition DVD,MGM Home Entertainment,1988,Trivia Track,it says:

"Wanda was originally a lemon-yellow angel fish, but after the first day's shooting she was replaced by a black angel fish with white stripes..."

So...it sounds like a Zebra angel to me.

The Wanda in the final cut of the movie is an ordinary white angel fish with black stripes that fade when the fish is frightened and return when danger has passed.
