Sick of being sick by notquitenglish on 17 May 2003 7:22am

Sometimes I enjoy it, I suppose, but not so much now that I've been out of school for a few years and can't stay home for being ill... I have a cold. Have had for a few weeks. Don't like it. Had a question I intended to ask, but cannot remember. So I will endeavor to make up another one....
like, what's your favourite word? (mine is repatriation, for some reason)
What's your favourite food? (ice cream. if not that, burritos)
What's your favourite colour? (blue! no, yellow! both wrong. green, actually.)
Who is better looking, John Lennon or Paul McCartney? (John, all the way)
What is your favourite Hitch.... movie? (Rear Window)
This is turning into a survey, isn't it? Well, discuss, I guess. There'll be a test upon it tomorrow...
One last question.
I am American. (I was going to write unfortunately, but who knows what kind of repercussions that'll bring, my point is I wish I had a more interesting accent) So why do I spell things the British way?

Ok notquitenglish, I'll bite.

Favourite word: serendipity

Favourite food: Umm, probably cheese. Though right now I am feeling a tad seedy (damn cheap white wine!) so please let's not talk about food.

Favourite colour: green. Love it.

Who is better looking, John Lennon or Paul McCartney?: Rate equally for me. I love the Beatles but find none of them particularly attractive.

Favourite Hitch.... movie: Vertigo

I am American. (I was going to write unfortunately, but who knows what kind of repercussions that'll bring, my point is I wish I had a more interesting accent) So why do I spell things the British way?: Because you're Canadian at heart? Hmmm? (And why would you be ashamed of being American - I've found that most "real" American people are absolutely lovely - it's just those annoying minority that seek fame, fortune, money or power that give us all the pips!! But that happens no matter what country they come from, heh heh!

Cheers

I'm bored, so why not...

Favourite word: I'm not quite sure - i'm trying to think of words I use alot. I use the words 'brill', 'fab' and 'mint' as a replacement for 'cool'. I suppose they're my most *used* words.

Favourite food: mmmm... mexican. And CHOCOLATE! And these potato things my mum makes.. anything with potatoes!

Favourite colour: pink.

Who is better looking, John Lennon or Paul McCartney?: Paul McCartney. I love them both, but Paul's just better looking. Cliche, I know.

Favourite Hitch.... movie: I have no idea - I think i've only ever seen 'Psycho' and 'The Birds' (is that what it's called?)!

I am American. So why do I spell things the British way?: Because you've been in here for too long? Hehe! Why "unfortunately"? I'd love to have an accent - my aussie accent is boring! I suppose everyone's accent is boring to themselves.

Ok, I,ll have a go, hmmm lets see I don,t really have a favourite word but the most common phrase that I use is to my 4 year old "what are you doing ?" and of course I always get the reply of "nothing" which involves things like decapitating dolls or scribling over the furniture or whatever takes her fancy at the time.

Favourite food: anything made of potatoes

Favourite colour: blue

I have always had a soft spot for John Lennon not just because I thought he was cute but because of his attitude, he could pull just about anything off, but yeah Sir Paul has always been the cutest one but then again I really thought George was the best looking.

Favourite Hitch... movie: Rear window, and Jimmy Stewart, Oh Boy !!!!

Well I,m Aussie so I didn,t get a say on how I spell things, and I,m actually proud of my accent, love being Australian and how we pronounce our words.

Okie dokie...

Favourite word: Magnanimous!

Favourite food: Italian - lasagne, spaghetti bolognaise and pizza, mmmmm!! Oh yeah, and chocolate of course!!

Favourite colour: Blue.

Who is better looking, John Lennon or Paul McCartney?: Probably Paul McCartney.

What is your favourite Hitch.... movie? Vertigo and The Birds.

This is turning into a survey, isn't it? Indeed it is!

I am American. (I was going to write unfortunately, but who knows what kind of repercussions that'll bring, my point is I wish I had a more interesting accent) So why do I spell things the British way?: Because you want to be an Australian? ;)

Cheers,
Michelle :)

I also have an awful cold, I can't think straight because it's so bad.
Anyways...
FAVE WORD: Hylogenesis
FAVE FOOD: hmm...Sweet&Sour's always good ^_^
FAVE COLOUR: Blue/green or pink/purple, I like them both.
BETTER LOOKING: Mr McCartney
HITCH MOVIE: Rear Window
SPELLING THINGS THE BRITISH WAY: Because you've seen the light and are now using the true way of spelling. Or maybe not. It might just be you've been around here too long and got corrupted ^_^

Re: Sick of being sick by ilse on 17 May 2003 8:30pm

word, food: i don't know...i just don't know...hmmm for word possibly "eheu, ehue" which is latin for "alas, alack"...or maybe spiffy.....
color: blue, green, or in between. but not that sort of icky brownish green.
better looking: no opinion
movie: well, the birds is the only one i've seen; i'm not that into horror movies. one thing i've always wondered, at the end, why do they take the cloth covered car instead of the big metal truck?!
spelling: yeah, i do that too sometimes. i used to get words wrong on tests in elementary school because my mom would "help" me - my grandmother is canadian

Fav word: bumbling

Fav food: olives (yum)

Fav colour: purple, or violet

Who's better looking, John or Paul?
um, George? No offence Paul, but your ego is WAY bigger than your talent. ok, that was quite offensive. sorry Paul fans.

Fav Hitch: never seen any, i'm scared way too easily!
Because British is better, darling (said in an "Ab Fab" kinda way)except for Blair, rain, traffic, GCSEs...........

No, American accents are boring!
And I hate to generalize, really, but it seems the vast majority of Americans are... well... we seem to get on other people's nerves a lot, and there must be a reason... plus, I mean, Hollywood. It's here, isn't it? Not in some other country. We're terribly confused, too, and not exactly loveable like the British... it's hard to explain. But most of the stuff I see in the papers makes me wince...
