Whaaaat?!

Thank God the customs stopped him :( I mean, one snake, one gecko, ok (though not illegally), but 24 creatures?!

When I took a boat trip to Denmark with the international students, the customs in Sola (next to Stavanger) were not that picky... I wonder what entered Norway that night!

I notice it does not say what state the poor snakes and geckos were in, so I have to assume they were ok. But they must have been stressed at the very least!!

But I find it shocking that someone could put creatures through all that stress to make money. Which at the end of the day was the reason he was doing it for presumably.

Often, watching docu-soaps like Airport you see horrific sights of animals being inhumanely treated - far too little space, cramped together in one crate, no water etc etc. Some weak and many dead, in some cases.

Trouble is (and I'm not saying it is the case here) many people don't think of animals as being a living creature, they are just 'things' - ways to make money. No different to selling chairs and tables, for example, except they have the unfortunate habit of moving!! And sometimes they need feeding and watering and make 'messes' but we'll forget that, shall we, because they are just a commodity to us, as long as we get our dollar we don't care.

Maybe I am not making sense here and rambling but I hope you get my point?

Yes, you are making sense, Anne. I did think of the poor things cramped up in nylon tights or whatever. The guy is supposed to be a snake lover but sounds more like that he wanted to make money. I am afraid of snakes but I would not want to see them being cruelly treated. I wonder if the Norwegian equivalent of the RSPCA were involved.

I certainly hope so, Suz!! That was so inconsiderate to the animals and the other passengers. I'll stop whining about the guy with sleep apnea who fell asleep next to me en route from France now.
