Mexican Border in the news by Loretto on 9 June 2010 12:23pm

17 Mexicans have been killed crossing the border by American border police so far this year. The most recent death, a 15 year old boy, was shot for throwing rocks. The border police have called this rock throwing an "epidemic." What would you call shooting 17 people in 6 months.

Wonderful!

See I was expecting a discussion about border control and crimes against man, cruel and unusual punishments etc.

Yes,I know you were.
But you didn't get it from me... :)

I am not really qualified to comment, being English and not American.
On another Forum, someone asked for comment on what difference the new Immigration Laws will make??
--I said the same, that I wasn't qualified to comment because I don't know a darn thing about them.

It seems there are a lot of people who want to cross the long American Southern Border ILLEGALLY,to get into the United States rather than entering with proper papers through the recognized points of entry, and they are presumably willing to risk life and limb to do it.
Therefore,what can you say??

I know that in the Middle East on the West Bank,Palestinian youths in their contempt often pick up rocks and hurl them at Israeli Border Guards and they sometimes get shot for their trouble, sometimes with rubber bullets and sometimes with live rounds.

Just give me a moment.

I fail to see the reason for reticence in sharing your views on illegal immigrants and border control issues, but your connection of the American-Mexican border and the Israeli Border Guards shows that you clearly are qualified to make a comment, so long as it doesn't belittle what is happening.

We're not going to change the world here, we know that
we're just talking, and broadening our own world views.
