How can we stop.. by Spursfan on 24 August 2010 12:57pm

...this cruelty? Every day, it seems, my contacts on FB share news of yet another atrocity.

It is terrible. I don't the answer. People get prosecuted here in UK by the RSPCA for cruelty but it doesn't stop the cruelty.

Did did you hear about that woman who put someone's kitten in a wheelie bin?

No I didn't hear of that Sue.

What happened?(though I don't REALLY know if I want to know, if you know what I mean!!).

:(

((HUGS)) If it weren't for the soft-hearted among us, nothing would get done.
Anne, they have the kitty story up on BBC. I'd be willing to bet she's mentally ill and/or maybe thought she was protecting the cat.
Recently, there was a "shelter" that was closed down here--it was run by two women who were hoarding, which can be a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder. That may be a reason, but not an excuse for their behavior.
As far as the FB story is concerned: people forget that "dog" is "God" spelled backward. And when they cross over and are greeted by a Staffie or a Pibble....well, that's my fantasy. (insert evil grin)

Here's the cat in the bin clip. I hope she used the proper bin.

I looked into making a regular donation to the DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee) but they only take one of payments for the current disaster. The one on the go at the moment is the floods in Pakistan.

Did you mean to put this on this thread, Ken? You can make regular donations to the Red Cross.

As for that woman putting the kitten in the bin, perhaps she is mentally ill. The poor kitten must have been terrified. I hope they track this woman down.

Thank you Fran (hugs).

The cat in the bin episode happened in Coventry so I just saw it on BBC Midlands Today (local magazine programme).

Can't help thinking it was lucky they had CCTV, or no-one who have known how the kitten got there, and that somebody needed punishing.

It took 15 hours to track the kitten down - thank goodness it was no longer than that.

And despite the awfulness of the story (the RSPCA are investigating) - I can't help but laugh at your comment Johnny!!

Apparently the woman (kitten-binning woman) is now under police protection because of on-line death threats.
