Best laid plans? by Spursfan on 25 November 2010 2:47pm

Isn't it funny how, if you plan something that's going to be quite short in time, something happens and it ends up taking double or even triple the time?!

On Tuesday, our two cats had appointments at 9.30 for their annual boosters. We thought we'd also get one or two bits of shopping, but not much because of the cats being stuck in their carrier (which is securely fastened into the front passenger seat with the seat belt. I sit in the back with Tosun on these occasions).

We were almost there when 'clunk clunk clunk' - we had a flat tyre. We pulled into the vets, and Zak took the cats in, then we took the car to Kwikfit which is luckily just across the road.

We ended up having 3 tyres changed - luckily for nothing as it is a motobility car. We left the cats strapped in (they were no worse off for their brief rise in the air!!) whilst we sat with Tosun in the waiting room.

A brief jaunt of about an hour or so turned into around 3 hours!! However, I still think it was lucky as we had been up and down the M1 to Sheffield on Sunday and we were going to travel about 30 mins down the M6 yesterday - the most dangerous stretch of motorway in the country they say - to see HP at the cinema in Walsall! Who knows what would have happened if we'd had a flat in the fast lane!

[HP was brilliant by the way - some parts didn't adhere strictly to the book but this didn't spoil it]

Sean and Kevin saw Harry Potter on Monday Anne. I am not a huge fan of fantasy fiction, I used to read the first and second book to Sean when he was very little. He's a huge fan.

The local library was transformed into Hogwarts and the last Harry Potter book was sold at midnight. Because Sean was the first child to show up at the library/Hogwart's door, his hair dyed black and wearing a Harry Potter costume, he made the front page of the newspaper.

Now, I am star struck at the best and worst of times, but I don't go around dressed as Mr Gumby :-) It is great to see enthusiasm about books though.

Yes, Anne, it would have been horrible if you had had a flat tyre on the M6! Doesn't bear thinking about.

I still haven't seen Harry Potter yet. Still have to catch up with the previous ones.

Mr. Teabag has spent this Thanksgiving in the garage. He was staining a woodworking project and oversanded a couple spots and touched them up and...oh, bleep it, I'm going to have some pie...

How was that pie then Fran? :-)

Oh, Loretto, it was great, thanks! It kept me from screaming when he said he'd have to rip out the parts he'd oversanded because they looked so awful and start from scratch on them.

He's been going to Loew's. Menard's and Home Depot for wood. And calling to share the experience with me.
Isn't he considerate? XD
