Touring Poland by Barrie Rockman on 18 December 2010 2:23pm

Loving most of what you do in your programmes,my Polish wife, friends and I, were,to put it mildly, surprised that the word JEW was not uttered once in connection with the destruction of Warsaw and its ghetto nor in Auschwitz where more than a million JEWS were murdered. Truthfully we were shocked. Was it not politically expedient?

Barrie, Michael was making a travel series not a history documentary. He has already had unfair criticism of about how issues in The Balkans were covered. Give the guy a break and enjoy his programmes for what they are.

Is your YIKES ! directed at me or Barrie ? I think I made a fair comment.

Yikes!!!!!
Did I say you didn't?

I just posted in New Europe thread that I wanted to know what all the fuss was about re: Mostar Bridge and Michael Palin's comment in New Europe. "There was no reason for the bridge's destruction."

The shows are travel documentaries, as you say, not political commentaries so it is not unethical of Michael to have his opinion left in....however,
the other side of the coin is that he is well known and once he makes an opinion known he also open's himself up to criticism.

So to be fair about the whole thing, if Michael is allowed to have his say so is Barrie Rockman.

My only issue is why do the BBC get all in a ruffle when one person has a counter argument to Michael? See the link I posted on the New Europe thread yesterday.

OK folks, for the record. I AM Jewish, have been to Poland and visited Auschwitz and saw where the Warsaw Ghetto was.

Yes, Mr. P could have mentioned it was specifically Jews. Again, these are travel documentaries, not historical or political.

Political expedience? Maybe Mr. P can comment himself on this.

Loretto, that journalism course is leading you up your own arse.
You're like a teenager trying to prove her 'wisdom'. Try a debate with the like of me. You'd have no chance.

John you don't debate. You use trigger points, provoke and upset people. It's your "special skill" remember?
