Being Thankful by Loretto on 20 November 2012 2:27pm

Things will be crazy for the next five days, so I just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving, even to those who don't celebrate the day across the pond.

Thanks for encouraging me to go ahead and self-publish the book. Thanks to Pete who bought it, it is still riddled with the passive voice and spelling mistakes. Thanks for a nice 2012. I am on the site 3 years, and yeah, I am just melancholy today, and thankful.

Loretto, I am pretty melancholy every day, I learnt a while ago not to get stressed about anything, it leads nowhere except illness. I always follow what my father said, `If you think you have a bad lot or are not happy with what you do NOT have, just watch the six o`clock news and be grateful for what you DO have for there you will see who truly is having a rough deal`.
Wise words. Well done on the book, I will get my act in gear one day and do my story, even if no-one reads it!
I am happy with everything I have, and grateful. If I am doubting it, its 5.30 at the moment, the news is on in 30 minutes.

And Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Loretto, and everyone else!

I am thankful that I can do so much; and to do it with a grin. I am grateful that I can live well. I must be doing something right...I'm surrounded by good people.

I am fine now, but when I posted that I had just written a blogpost about when Sean and I went to Newgrange in Ireland for the winter solstice, and he was 11 yearsl old then in 2009. I keep thinking that was only 3 years ago and I see how much he has changed, what big changes will the next 3 years bring? We have a good relationship, we each have the same weird sense of humor, and I suppose I am thinking about sending him off into the world in 4 years and just missing him. Enough. Don't know why it is hitting me today, but it is.

Hey Loretto,

You've given Sean the best start possible. You will have imparted in him all the personality characteristics and values that you now have. A child leaving home is an essential part of growth. Your growth as much as his.

Being away from Mom for the first time is a critical time for Sean. He will learn things about himself he can't get from books, school or parental guidance. He'll be fine.

Thanks Pete. I have just driven him around for 3 hours from elctric motor shops to hardware store and hobby shops looking for the ingredients of his science fair project....so believe me when I say, the melancholy has worn off, then he says, "I enjoyed my afternoon with you."

:-)

Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for my health family and friends. Thankful for my writing. Thankful for every day and the fact that the Yankees were knocked of the playoffs.

We even had "Turkey Day" in Ireland.

Happy Turkey Day Palinstravels.
