My sympathies obviously go firstly to the family of Jacintha Saldanha but I also feel sorry for the two young DJs. They or anyone else, could never have foreseen the tragic consequences.

I had said to an American friend before the tragedy, that the nurse on the tape wasn't a native English speaker and was probably more easily duped and overawed. A sad case.

I think in years gone by, and had this not involved heightened media scrutiny due to obsessions with the royals, this would have gone unnoticed.

When it involves a celebrity, as the royals are, then the over reactions are over the top.

I actually thought the phone call was funny, but I guess because the nurse may have been highly embarrassed this has escalated. I feel sorry for her family, I really do, but out of the millions of pranks that have been pulled over the years, how many have ended this way?

If the station manager in Austraila signed off on the prank, then he/she must have seen the humor in it, no one could have predicted that the nurse would have reacted in this way.

Am I the only one in thinking that perhaps the British media played their part in this Tragedy? If they all had not made such a fuss and bother over a pregnant woman haaving severe morning sickness (one of hundreds of thousands that have done) then maybe the Aussie DJ`s would not have even bothered with it, after all, it was headline news everywhere and that probably prompted the urgency to prank call the hospital. Anybody`s FAULT? not really, just a consequence of someone trying to get a cheap laugh and not thinking, for one moment, where it might lead. The poor lady was perhaps given a dressing down at work, took it badly because, as said, it was MAJOR NEWS (yeah, right) and I expect also that perhaps her ethnic culture had a small part to play as some cultures treat shame as being a bigger issue than it is to others.
Lessons learnt and I am sure there are a lot of people affected, equally, Kate and William.
Sad for all involved, most of all the family.

DJ's ought to be ashamed. And my only sympathy is for the nurse and her family.

You guys covered any possible thoughts I may have had if I didn't have you folks to do all the thinking! Yeah, perhaps millions of expecting women have felt sick in the morning, hundreds of millions maybe, but she's one of our fairy-tale princesses so all my best wishes go to Kate.

Wheelrim, I totally agree with you that media-hype was at the basis of this tragedy. There obviously had to be other stresses in that poor nurse's life but the crazieness of the media coverage sent her over the edge. So sad.....

Pregnancy should be private but, unfortunately, that is no longer possible. If I were that royal couple, I would high-tail it to a private island somewhere that has great medical care and not emerge until the royal heir or heiress is born.

If they went to a private island somewhere, the media will still find them!

Suzulu, you are right, but they dont have to....do they? No-one is REALLY interested in Kate`s Pregnancy between finding out that she is Pregnant (Congrats) and giving birth (congrats).
What sad lives some live if that does interest them.
