That'd be an apt name for our new poster here, don't you think? ;)

Man: You sit here, dear.
Wife: All right.
Man: Morning!
Waitress: Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam...
Vikings: Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!

Hey I'm up at 4am with a fever, feverishly posting away trying to fend off this 'parajumpers canada goose' guy so our forum doesn't get overrun by Spam..

"A little help, perhaps?"

I've been considering going to see Spamalot in the Edinburgh Playhouse next week but have been put off by all the fees on top of the ticket price so I am instead looking for a DVD of the show. The online searches I have made have come up with misleading results, mostly giving me music CDs or books when I specifically included DVD in the search parameters.

Can anyone enlighten me on the availability of a DVD of the show and where to get it?

I would go and see the live show if you can, Ken. I know it's expensive but you won't regret it.

I am not sure about the DVD.

I agree Sue. We had a great night when we went to see it in Birmingham; it was hilarious!

Whilst I'm sure that the dvd will be good, I'm afraid it won't be able to recreate the atmosphere (and of course the little local knowledge additions) of the live show.

On YouTube, there is a shaky-camera, taken from the balcony, version of it of the original New York production. Absolutely dreadful production values but you get to see the marvelous Tim Curry. I so wish the late, great Mike Nichols had gotten to direct a film version after he did such a great job of directing it on Broadway.

P.S. Just went to look at that on YouTube and discovered that there are a couple of other versions that have much better production values but don't have that great original cast - Curry, Ramirez, Azaria, Hyde-Pierce et al.

I'd spend the money to see it on stage though. I love living rural but I do miss good theatre.

Our daughter and fiancee went to see Spamalot while it was in Edinburgh. She said it was very funny and Mr P had a (major) part which I will not reveal for those who haven't seen in yet. She also said that had she known I was interested she would have got me a ticket. Hmmph!
