48 reds! by Ken Dunn on 19 May 2014 9:02am

I bought a stamp magazine the other day and in it was a guide to the shades of an early red british stamp. There are 48 shades listed including deep bright brick-red, bright rose-red and deep 'intense' orange-vermilion!

The person who produced the guide must be female Ken, according to a cartoon on FB!

One side of a chart depicting different shades of colours are the names women give to the shades, on the other side men.

For example, against various shades of green:

Women: lime, avocado, limon, laurel, chlorophyll, moss, mint, emerald.

Men: Green.

That reminds me of our old suite. My wife wants to call it caramel or pale coffee but I want to call it pale orange brown.

Pale orange brown I understand. I have never heard of pale coffee.

Pale coffee as in very milky coffee as opposed to black coffee, I should think.
