Left wanting more by buntiphocus on 4 November 2002 3:08pm

Having just watched the final episode of Sahara, which was, once again, great viewing, does anyone else feel left wanting more? The series was over all rather too quickly for me; only 4 programmes! Whatever were the BBC thinking of? 'Round the World' took less time but had almost twice as much airtime. I hope the DVD provides plenty more material to watch. Now, where's that pen, "Dear Santa...."!

Hmmm, yeah more is better where Michael is concerned. He said in an interview (I think it was is Reader's Digest but I'm not sure) that he'd have prefered it to be aired as 8 half-hour slots. But I'm sure there'd have been load of interesting stuff that was not aired.

i think also the reason why it was so short was after helen having a benign brain tumour when he was away filming full circle he did not want to be away from homew for too long .

I agree with Dave. I felt that it was over too quickly. How long was he away altogether? I thought it was about a year on and off. I read somewhere that he kept popping back home. Seems to me that there must be more.

It was filmed between February 2001 and February 2002. Summer heat and all-round-bureaucracy forced a number of breaks.

I got that from a little footnote in the book.

I agree it was too short. I would have loved to see more episodes, at least 2 more. Apart from that I enjoyed watching it.

The DVD is loaded with extras, at least an hour of extra footage, video diary and deleted scenes and a long interview with Michael. Well worth the dosh. But I agree the series was too short.
