FIFA Women's World Cup. by Ken Dunn on 11 June 2019 10:30pm

I've been watching some of the ladies football on the TV over the past few days and am very impressed by the quality of play. It is more of a pleasure to watch as they are not con artists like some of the men trying to 'win' a free kick by playacting and other discourteous play. A critic I read a few days ago said that because of this the women had a few things to learn from the men who play football. I disagree completely with the critic and would say that it's the other way about - the men could definitely learn a thing or two from the women's style of play.

Since writing this post a few days ago I have just watched the Brazil v Australia game where Australia won 3 - 2. I was disappointed in Australia's style of play. They used the diving tactic and did some very unfair tackling. My enjoyment of the women's style of play has been dented and this game has put me off watching any more (except if Scotland or England are involved).

I have, after some consideration, watched some other teams in this competition and have been very impressed by the skill and fitness of the ladies. The (diving) theatrics seems to be much less than in the men's game.

What an amazing game of football the Scotland v Argentina match was. Those women are like gazelles. After Scotland took a 3-0 lead the match ended up a draw. Fascinating.
