I've read all of Michael's books and also all those by Bill Bryson. If you like Michael and haven't read anything by Bryson you need to do so immediately.

Any other suggestions in this vein. I'm going through a bit of withdrawal.

There is a book called Ghost Rider..Travels on the Healing Road, it's written by Neil Peart, the drummer with the Rock band Rush, it's nothing to do with music but is an on road account of his travels through Canada and the U.S on his motor bike trying to heal himself and come to terms with his life after his Wife and Daughter died.
His Geographical accounts of his travels are very interesting as well as feeling the guy's pain at his loss.

I've just read Chris Stewarts 'Driving over Lemons' Where he writes about his new life embarking on a old famhouse in Andalucia. It's beutifully written, and makes everything sound so peaceful, he seems to have found for himself the perfect life (even with it's ups and downs)

Hey there justHerb,
just started reading a cracking non-fiction book by Iain Banks, it's called RAW SPIRIT..in search of the perfect Dram. It's a fascinating tour of Scotland and her Isles seeking the perfect Malt Whisky and is a great insight into that Queer and wonderful creature "The Scot." quite humerous too.
