Helen, I saw YES in Ft. Lauderdale! by canaveralgumby on 4 May 2004 6:18am

I almost didn't go. I've seen them 5 or 6 times, and I thought I'd skip it this year. And that would have been a mistake.

I think in the last 4 concerts I saw, the set lists were drastically different. I'm still looking for my old notes. But, geez, 2 hrs 50 min of pure bliss.

Did you see them this year? - Cori

Cori-- you lucky, lucky bastard!

Did they do "Awaken"?

Did Squire do an extended "Fish' solo?
Stop don't tell me I'm turning green!

NO--- tell me now!!!!!!

I haven't seen YES since the Union tour. Do you have their touring info?

I always write the set lists, I'm anal that way. They went on at 8:10.

Going for the One
Sweet Dreams
All Good People
Mind Drive pt. 1 ---> South Side of the Sky
Turn of the Century
Mind Drive pt. 2
Yours is No Disgrace

intermission

ACOUSTIC! no kidding, even Alan had a mini drum set and sat at the front. Rick played a baby grand.:
short Wakeman solo ---> The Meeting (fr. ABWH)
Long Distance Runaround (no "Fish")
Wondrous Stories
(a song I didn't recognise - Jon said it was "for the fans")
blues acoustic Roundabout. It worked, really!
Show Me a Man
Steve Howe solo, sort of like "Clap" but not exactly, as a dozen roadies put the stage back together for the electric instruments

Rhythm of Love - Jon walked through the floor section
And You & I
Ritual (Topographic Oceans album side) during which Squire & White soloed

encore:
Every Little Thing She Does (Beatles cover from 1st Yes album)
-Soon- (last movement of "Gates of Delirium")

ended at 11:05

This was probably the Yes concert with the LEAST soloing I've ever seen, but that's not a complaint.

In 2002 they did "Awaken" and "The Revealing" and even "Don't Kill the Whale"! The tour before that they did "Close to the Edge." They're playing to the Yes fans and not to the public at large, you know?

There are about 10 dates left to this tour. You should check Ticketmaster. GO NOW!

I cry every time Jon sings Soon from Gates...sigh...
And they did Ritual!!!! AWESOME....another fave of mine...
have you ever heard/seen them do On the Silent Wings of Freedom from Tormato??? I think it's some of Squire's best badass bass playing..I would love to see that live...

Wow. Sh*t. The best available at Office Depot Center were $65. Where are you (or what general area if you don't want to say)?

I don't remember seeing them perform "Silent Wings" live. But they did "Don't Kill the Whale" a few years ago and I thought that was incredible. I think "Silent Wings" is one of Squire's best bits, too. Do you have the "YesYears" video - the 8 of them did interviews during the Union tour? (Yellow cover.) They showed a little footage of the band recording "Tormato" and Squire kept stopping during "Wings" because he didn't like the sound of his bass. Not kidding. Makes you wonder!

Anyway, if you HAVE the $100 I recommend you go.

They are playing at Mohegan Sun casino. hence, the high price. I will try to scrape it up, though. I love my guys!
I am getting the YesYears video now.
NOW, I said... :)
Didn't he play a Gibson Thunderbird on that song, not his usual Rick?
