nyc and chicago by emartin on 24 December 2002 1:08am
I've just returned from NYC. Beautiful! it's my second time in the city but the first time i've truly appreciated it. I traveled from columbus, ohio to new jersey and into the city then to upper new york (north salem area) and into connecticut. all beautiful areas. I highly recommend going there if only once. I'm hoping to go to chicago for st. patrick's day and then to london or ireland sometime next year. So I am hoping for a busy year of travelling this year. If anyone can recommend any secret treasures of chicago it would be appreciated! Happy Holidays!

I spent 4 months in US. During my time I was lucky enough to go to NYC and Chicago. If anybody goes 2 Chicago. Please visit Famous Daves blues bar/restaurant. the atmosphere is electric. Live Blues music. cant quite beat it from the place it orginated from.
NYC wasnt as scary as I thought it would b. Place 2 visit is the Jekyll and Hyde restaurant in Greenwich Village. Its like being on a scary movie set.brillant experience

Famous Daves is actually part of a 'chain' in the States. It IS pretty fun (and has GREAT B-B-Q). I haven't been to Chicago for a few years and am planning to visit NY this Spring. Our corporate offices are in Chicago, so I'll get the lowdown on the hot-spots some time this week. Are you looking for night clubbing or restaurants? My 2nd favorite Cheesecake Factory is in Chicago. It's like stepping into Alice In Wonderland, and the menu is huge. Everyone will find somthing they like there, but it IS part of another chain.
I'll come back at the end of the week with a couple of places.

I can definitely recommend to take a tour on a speed boat which departs at the waterfront of Lake Michigan, near the pier. If I remember correctly it's called "Beast". The crew first takes you out on the lake from where you have a great view of the skyline. Take the tour at sunset. Absolutely gorgeous. After a short ride at high speed the tour continues on the Chicago river which runs right through the city. From there you have a great view of the skyscarpers and at all other architectural highlights. The crew is very friendly, takes pictures of yourself at high speed and gives funny comments on Chicago history etc...
Don't miss it!
