Anyone Suggest a Publisher?? by Spursfan on 4 September 2004 4:33pm

I am writing a book about the experiences my husband and I had whilst travelling through Nepal, India, the Maldives and Dubai, based on notes I made at the time. It will be illustrated, funny, poignant and full of information. No firm title as yet - but the working title is 'If I see another Temple I'll Scream!'.

I'm down to earth enough to know it will probably never be printed - I don't want to pay - but does anyone know of a suitable publisher (UK)to send to?

I'd be glad of anyone's (suitable!)suggestions!!

Best wishes

Anne xx

Oh, and I'm sure that our hearts are all with the people of Beslan.

I would say trying a publisher that specializes in travel books-- say, Michael's or Bill Bryson's....
good luck! It sounds like a fun read!

Why does that mean you are questioning my book?

I'm not exactly Agatha Christie or to put it in the right context Michael Palin!!

It's just a small project. I always keep a diary of our more exciting trips, and as we'd had many adventures and seen some wonderful things on that journey I thought it would be a good idea to put it all together in a book.

Nothing wrong with that, is there? I have 'touted my wares' around a few publishers but am awaiting (in vain?) for their replies.

Sorry - but I have to say that your reply seems to me just a tad snooty.

Anne,
Morse is a troll who surely is not involved in "publishing in Oxford."

Beware of any user who is unduly rude, snotty or just plain "weird." This troll business has been a mild annoyance for a little while on this site. Kind of like a buzzing gnat in your ear....

Pay it no mind.

"It" is really getting predictable. The tweaking of usernames, etc.
However, it is entertaining in its incredible lack of imagination and sorry attempts at "humor."
Thanks for the laugh!

What? Excuse me Linda but you are lying through your teeth! When did I 'tell you' that I was lying about my adventures? What a cheek!!! It is true, my husband and I travelled first to Kathmandu, via Dubai and Delhi; then Varanesi (where I was ill and fainted on the steps of the Ganges!!), then through various other places such as Jodhpur, Agra, Jaipur, Mumbai, etc etc for the next three weeks. Then 5 days in the Maldives recovering (and scuba diving) followed by two days in Dubai dune-bashing etc. If you want to know we flew Emirates Birmingham - Dubai, Dubai - Delhi, Maldives - Dubai, Dubai Birmingham, and various other airlines such as Indian Airways (NOT Air India) internally. We also travelled by train and car.

I am NOT going to tell you all my adventures here - what would be the point of the book if I did?

And anyway, why should I explain myself to you, you moron?#

Ha! I like the way you confused Linda with a troll. She will be pleased!

Seriously though, is the Maldives as good as it looks?

Yes - it's absolute bliss! Expensive though, I would advise anyone to go full board or AI. We were used to having bottles of water for less than 50p in India - suddenly we were paying £2! It's because they have to import everything.

We could walk around our island in about 10 mins, and you could sit on the beach and watch rays and small dog-sharks (I think) just off the shore. The sea was clear - wish I was there just now in fact!!

One point: if you're someone who likes to be up and about doing things,or you don't scuba, 2 weeks could be boring.
It's possible to visit other islands, and the capital island Male, but even so. However, if like me you like to laze with a book it's fantastic!!

Anyone want to sponsor me to go back lol!!!

Best wishes Anne
