The Chatter Box : Blathering On
LOTR hyper by notquitenglish on 1 December 2004 2:22am
This is a bit of a long-shot, since I am like the only person I know who's heard of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (that was High-Handed Sarcasm, by the way) but is anyone else kind of hyper about the Extended Edition of ROTK coming out December?

I am.
Re: LOTR hyper by Godfather on 1 December 2004 4:23am

Hmmm. No. You want the film even "longer!!" ?
Re: LOTR hyper by Sky on 1 December 2004 11:21am
I am!!! I love those films so it's great to get even more of it! We get them for my dad at xmas but I get more use out of 'em than he does! Mind you, this xmas I'm holding out for the new Michael Palin box set of DVD's.

ps. kinda intrigued by your name notquitenglish. Explain!

Well, since you asked... :)
I picked notquitenglish because that's what I am. Due to my comic education as a child (mostly Python, then in teenaged years Rik Mayall and the Young Ones, Blackadder, Steve Coogan, the works) I am automatically in love with everything from Great Britain (especially if it looks like James Purefoy). I wish I'd been born over there so I could talk like them without people looking at me like I'm six ants short of a hill. Alas, I'm a Californian and possess the most boring accent known to man.

"the most boring accent known to man"
Hmm, sounds like you have something in common with Eric Olthwaite! Only kidding!
On the subject of Return of the King, has anyone else seen the 6 minute preview on the main lordoftherings.net site? Im trembling with excitement for a week tomorrow!!!

When it comes to LOTR, the music "The White Tree" from the ROTK soundtrack redeemed the entire triogy for me (which did'nt quite match my inner vision of it all). The scene was incredible too, as the beacons are lit over the mountains. Fantastic. I found the last movie was the one that redeemed it.
Re: LOTR hyper by notquitenglish on 2 December 2004 7:11pm
Oh yeah, that scene with the beacons was my favourite part in the whole trilogy (and I loved *all* of it). Some critic or other, Ebert probably, said it one of the best moments in movie history. I agree.

Really? Well it was certainly very well done indeed. The music reflected it perfectly too. A real marriage of both.
