I would like to say, how absolutely right Michael is when he wrote that it is important to have some contact with a native with the country of your destination. “Either before you go or when you’re there,” on his written piece, “Know Where To Go’ on this site.

On a smaller scale I found it to be true through experience. A smaller scale because I did not go to another country, but I did go to Wellington which is a large city and for a country girl like myself it can be daunting if I have never been there on my own before. Not that I was completely alone, but the times I have been to Wellington I was always with someone who knew the city well. This time I was going to travel around on my own or with friends who had not been there for years. Inside information came in handy. My brother and sister-in-law gave me some advice and it saved my friends and me money and going to the wrong restaurant. Also in telling me which trains or buses to catch and how to get to places was a great help. Public transport is wonderful, but still a little daunting for a country girl who is used to driving a car or being driven around in a car.

Well, it had to happen sometime. My first big mistake of posting when I did not want too. However, because of the wonderful edit button I can explain, and therefore this post is no longer useless. :-)
