I just got Richard Dawood's book by Helen on 14 January 2005 10:20pm

over 500 pages on how to avoid getting horribly ill whilst travelling. It has a lovely quote from MP on the cover--"as indispensable to travel as a toothbrush."
I can't wait to dig in.

I like those kind of books. Occasionally i've picked up old dog eared books like that in Asia. But just touching the book cover is probably guaranteed to give you Cholera (sometimes they've been around that much, and are grubby). But i always find them funny, because they're usually very "Boy Scout" like. "Be Prepared" and then find out that all your preparation wont escape the clutches of an Amoebic Cyst if it's determined enough. Seriously though, yes they can be helpfull books. But some people can become paranoid because it's like Foreign office advice. All those worst case scenarios condensed into one place, makes it seem much worse than it really is.

"You're cured mate....Bloody do gooders!!"

On a serious note. That's the crazy thing about countries like India. Certain sections of the population like to wear a facade of 1st world technology. Yet, they build nuclear bombs and on a street outside one of their offices are people with stumps for hands and wrapped in bandages, due to leprosy (which as you say,can be treated easily thesedays). That country never ceases to amaze me (in good ways, and in bad ways). It often lives in Denial (and i'm not talking about ther River).
