The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Seattle. by tucsonmike on 30 January 2006 4:38am
Now that I have been drafted into forming the NAAAP chapter, I may be in Seattle in August instead of Washington. I know there are several people from Vancouver on here.
I know nothing about Seattle. I have never been to the Pacific Northwest. I found out I have cousins in Vancouver. (They used to live in Montreal).
See, I am all messed up. I went from being a woman to being Asian in the same weekend. I ain't got a clue where I am going.

Mike, I didn't know you were Asian? I thought you were Jewish.

I'm not George. Although, many Russian Jews have Central Asian ancestry. A Turkic tribe called the Khazars converted to Judaism, so they could trade with both Christians and Moslems. My sisters were born with what is known as the Mongolian blue spot. Many East Asian babies have it. The young resident went into my mother stuttering. "Mrs. Charton, your baby is a...a....Mongoloid."
My mother sat up in bed fixed him with the stare she has that can kill and said
"A Mongol, stupid!"
To do geneaology, we are doing to do the National Geographic Human Genome Project. The irony, I am now going to a meeting February 15th of the sister city group to Kazakhstan. This is after we had the Kazak visitor to my Toastmasters club. You were right George, you never know what can happen.
Actually the man forming the chapter here in Tucson isn't Asian. He is of German descent from Ohio.

See, I ain't got a clue.

Mike, there are many Hungarians with the spot as well. Isn't it also a characteristic perported to prove your relationship to Khan? That's the story I heard from my ex-patriot Hungarian friend when I visited Budapest .

Went to Seattle for the first time last December but at the time it was dark, rainy and cloudy and it took ages to cross the border. other than that it was pretty nice

The bus station is reasonably central for most venues. We found a place from the telephone board in the station which was convenient to the Space Needle and other tourist attractions. there is a skytrain that runs from the Space Needle to the town.
