Melbourne Spamalot by kazzzz on 14 December 2007 3:24am
Well Missy and I finally got to see Spamalot, we had the BEST night out!!

We met at the Spaghetti Tree restaurant at 7 and had a bit of a rushed dinner as the show started at 8, we were there well in time thought. The show was just sooo funny, I loved the opening Finland Fish Slapping Dance scene. We had good seats and could see all the antics. I was a bit disappointed that there were no well known actors in the cast, but they were great anyway. I haven't laughed so much in ages!! Which, in hindsight, wasn't particularly good for my cracked ribs, ouch!
Missy bought coconut halves and a programme from 'Ye Olde Rippoff Shoppe" souvenir stall and I bought a rabbit puppet with pointy teeth (allegedly for Ava haha). Afterwards we hightailled it down to the banks of rhe Yarra river to have a ride on the ferris wheel, I got some great pix and Missy played her coconuts while the rabbit enjoyed the ride immensely!!
Coffe and cake on the way home. The only downsides were a drunk woman that was punching a guy in the face for "stealing my f***ing alcohol" and my cat having been sick on my bed when I got home. Yay.
Coffee and Tiramasu on he way home was extra nice.
I popped some pix on facebook if anyone wants a gander:)

Oh and Pats, watch the letterbox, surprise on the way :)

Enormously glad for you girls. I am going to see it again anyway as it's 8 months now since I saw it... I had an excellent seat. Oooh how I loved it! Wish I'd bought a killer rabbit, but they were more expensive than my ticket:( And the t-shirts were all XXXXXL:(

No grieving though as I was presented with a Spanish Inquisition t-shirt for my recent birthday (three cheers to Kisch). It fits!

But I still want a rabbit.

It was a fantastic night - lovely weather and wonderful company. I think Kazzzz has pretty much covered everything in her report. I'd just like to add that my favourite performances were from the actors who played Patsy, Prince Herbert and the Lady of the Lake. King Arthur was a bit of a berk, but you can't win 'em all! ;)

"Our" King Arthur was a Rrrreal one (and spoke exactly like Graham doing the original Holy Grail lines). And The Lady had a most powerful voice! She was a doll anyway. Patsy was a love too:) I just loved the atmosphere, especially in the end when we all sang along to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. Such a moving moment - I sort of was laughing with one eye and crying with the other. Really. Not ashamed of saying so!

I didn't watch trailers or clips beforhand, didn't watch TV articles on the show, didn't read reviews, I wanted the whole thing to be a surprise...and it was!!!

thank you for the lovely report gals ! I'm so hoping to see it next year in London with dear friend Katia ! I won't buy a rabbit (not enough space for that stuff in my flat), but I want a badge with "I fart in your general direction", to wear it in front of my boss (who is a General Director).

I am glad you two had fun even with the downsides.

Sounds like you girls had a great night out . Hope your ribs are better Kazzzz and Missy gets a good rhythm from her coconuts !

Glad you both enjoyed it! I would like to see it again here.

I can just picture the two of you in the audience. Wish I had been with you. I know it must've been fun. I enjoyed the performance I saw last year in Baltimore.

Did they really sell shirts in that size, Katia? My significant other wears an XXL if it's generously made. Many XXL's are too small for him. Maybe what they had at your performance would have fit him.

Karen, I'll keep my peeprs open. I'm itching to see what devilish item you sent. Hope it makes it through the security check! lol xxx
