i don't like pina colada, but i dance in the rain by arty_farty on 15 December 2007 12:27am

something annoying happened at work today, i was filling the spirits and i bumped into the door by the tills.

i was holding a bottle of pina colada who's bottom snapped off and drenched me and the floor with pinappley booze.

thankfully my boss was more annoyed with the company who sent it than me.

See, you will have to import Matron. Lucy, your boss sounds like a real pain in the bottom.

You'd have had a nice odour round you all day, Lucy!

But do you like "the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne...?"

One of my other favorite funny songs from the 70's is "Midnight at the Oasis"... "send your camel to bed"...

It's pretty funny because it's very late at night here now, and I am watching a "Soul Train" re-run from the 70's... It's actually really fun...

Soul Train, now there is a throwback. A way to get ones parents teeth set on edge.

Yes, late night here on the weekends, the Soul Train is still moving and grooving like no other phenomena... And they have the recorded live performances from those times, which are really fun to see! I love many aspects of the innocence of the 70's. I wouldn't want to go back, but there was a lot that was fun.

70's, innocent? How about Vietnam and Watergate for starters? Kent State? I graduated high school in 1975. I remember the cynicism.

I remember the awful music and the awful clothes we wore ! ( tho' I did so with great style ). But the hairstyles ? OMG, I've no excuses there !

I graduated in 76; disco had just hit the scene; line dancing was popular. There were a lot of hangers on--people my age who were a bit too young to be in protest marches or helping black people register to vote, but had the ideal about changing the world and making it a better place. Viet Nam, Watergate, Kent State, and other events did a lot to kill that spirit.

I wonder how much of my perception of "the way things were" has to do with who I was at the time, rather than with actual facts and events?
