Vinyl Albums by Spursfan on 15 December 2007 3:04pm

Does anyone else miss certain vinyl albums from their youth which they have lost/sold/just not bought the CD version?

I miss Beard of Stars (Tyrannasaurus Rex - whose music/lyrics was more me than the poppier T Rex though I still loved Marc and collected the albums etc!!) - and also the soundtrack of Easy Rider which I left in our flat 35 years ago!!

*Note to self - hunt out CD version of Beard of Stars !!!*

Old Records. Now there is something from the past.

Some companies like Sharper Image are selling turntables which will record vinyl directly to disk as mp3. They are not expensive - around $250-300 (125-150 GBP) but I have no idea how decent the final sound quality is. I have been tinkiering with the idea of purchasing one, but the money may be better sent on, oh, I don't know, the electric bill.

aye, I miss the vinyl bootleg of David Bowie's live at Santa-Monica, which was sort of stolen from my friend's flat 12 years ago. Or maybe she just sold it, lil' bitch... Anyway, it was very rare bootleg - original release, and I've never seen it anywhere, ever since.

Yes, I have seen turntables which connect to one of the USB ports of your computer.

We have many things attached to ours at different times - a mat that keeps your coffee etc hot; a mini aquarium (!); a mini blob lamp; and, at the moment, a glass xmas tree that lights up.

I don't miss my collection of over 500 lp's over a hundred that were digital master quality....at all. I listened to that stuff for twenty years and listen to other types of music now.

If you hold them over a flame they twist into cool shapes.

I haven't got rid of any of mine either - except accidentally leaving the Easy Rider (Born to be Wild must've been written for me hahahaha) in our Holloway flat!! - because that would be like losing a child (well ok perhaps not but you know what I mean).

They are all up in the loft but I can't be a***d to get up there and get them down.
