Wossup??...Woss and BBC go separate ways...that's wossup! by bIG bLOGGER on 9 January 2010 2:34pm

Oh,Blimey! Contwoversial bwoadcaster JONATHAN WOSS has been dwopped by the BBC,since it became clear they would wefuse to wenew his current 3-year contwact. This made all the UK tabloids yesterday: the SUN's splash headline read: FWOZEN OUT!

Woss has failed to measure up to the BBC's demands for political cowwectness in pwogramme-making.

The p*ank he pulled with Wussell Bwand on [FAWLTY TOWERS actor 'Manuel'] Andrew Sachs's answerphone re Sachs's gwanddaughter Georgina, was the last stwaw. Dubbed 'Sachsgate',this had serious fallout: Woss lost 200,000 listeners from his Saturday Radio Show; it had to be pre-recorded in future in case of slip-ups; Woss himself was suspended for 3 months without pay, losing him £1.5million pounds; Bwand quickly resigned from the BBC before he was sacked; the BBC itself was fined £150,000 pounds by media watchdog OFCOM.

In 2006,Woss outwaged TV licence-fee
payers by signing an £18 million-pound, 3-year BBC deal--an exorbitant salary for an entertainer--which came back to haunt the top BBC management during the recesssion.

In 2007,Woss,ever unwepentant, commented glibly:"I am pwobably worth at least 1,000 BBC weporters",a remark which some Woss cwitics perceived as incredibly insensitive, smug and awwogant.

Yesterday,a hastily-scwibbled small ad on a BBC TV Centre noticeboard summed up Woss's sudden wesignation:

4 POOFS,1 PIANO,SEEK GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT ANYWHERE...ANYTHING CONSIDERED.

See, this site edits the word PRANK:))) LOLOLOL And this is the site of the man who once said from the cinema screen "he w a n k s as high as any in Wome" teee-hee.
As much as I love the BBC (not living in the UK I think I've got the right to love BBC - and well, you should see Russian TV and then you'll know why I love the BBC), their behaviour irritates me sometimes. Russell Brand I do loathe, he makes me cringe (have you seen him in Almost The Truth, God it was awful... and he is a Python fan *and* a Morrissey fan !), but Wossy I always liked a lot. He was an idiot making that phone call to Andrew S. and he did apologise, and I'm sure he felt sowwy, but he is a very talented man and has great taste and probably he's indeed not suitable for the stiffness of the BBC anymore.
Pity innit. I'm sure he won't be unemployed for long.

Thanks, kisch (how many 'r's in that??)--you have summed it up very well indeed! [Hah!..Did you mean : "He ranks as high as any in Rome" ?? :)]

Brand makes ME cringe as well,he is like some semi-literate adolescent Edwardian buffoon!
Probably, since Ross was at the time appearing on Brand's BBC Radio 2 show, they were egging each other on to do stupid things [pranks] and it got out of hand, but a BBC producer also lost his job for letting it be aired.

You're right..Ross probably IS too bold and mouthy for the BBC,just as is Frankie Boyle. Ross is bIG mates with both Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais, who are notoriously foul-spoken anarchic TV comedians. Jimmy Carr sticks to CHANNEL 4 TV,where he gets away with his 'f's and 'b's,and in fact Jonathan Ross got his first break on TV on CHANNEL 4's "The Last Resort" in the 1980's.

Where Jonathan will go next remains an open question. He will still [for the time being, anyway] present the one-off BAFTA AWARDS and COMIC RELIEF on the BBC. He may freelance for other British TV companies perhaps,or he may--like his friend Russell Brand--seek work in America.
