I love bog bodies! by Loretto on 24 January 2010 11:48pm

Just bored out of me tree folks. I do love bog bodies though, not in the biblical sense mind you. We've seen 4 of them at the National museum of Ireland and my son and I made a special trip to London to catch up with Lindow man, looks great! I have books and videos coming out the wazoo about Celtic history and bog bodies. Any suggestions? About good books that is!Cheerie bye!

Ohh so do I!! It's a real interest of mine!
A few years ago I worked in the British Museum, and at that time he wasn't on display to the public (The Lindow Man ) but I was able to see him in the ongoing preservation work down in the dungeons of the museum.. Glad that he's back on show. So interesting.

Lucky you Kazz! I got interested in them because of a Public Television show, called The Perfect Corpse. One of the bog bodies discussed in the program was found near where I grew up in Ireland, Gallagh Man. Have a look for the Perfect Corpse, excellent. Any suggestions with regard to reading????

PS: You know the solution that they wash them in ; PEG, well I learned 2 years ago that my moisturizer's main ingreadient is PEG (I use Roc).

"You too can have skin like a bog body!"

Roc??? You're kidding!!! That's hilarious! I'm an Oil of Olay gal myself....

I am dead serious, have a look at the ingredients of Roc. PEG is the main ingredient. I think I am beginning to look a little brown!

There's something creepy about this thread.
A love of bog bodies ?
I started off enjoying an occasional drink and ended up hooked, maybe you two will end up down the local cemetery digging up new friends to love. :)

Tollund man, now there's a fine looking bog body. Very peaceful fellow.

Then there is Clonycaven Man, he lost his head though, the original
"Quiet Man."

And finally, Lindow Man, slightly one sided.

Johnny I've always thought that you had the appeal of a bog body. You're known around the traps as Haggis Man.
