Dennis Hopper is battling prostate cancer by bIG bLOGGER on 27 January 2010 5:22pm

73 year-old Movie Star of nearly 200 film and TV outings and star of EASY RIDER,which he also directed,Dennis Hopper has been battling prostate cancer for nearly 10 years, but his condition has worsened, and now there are fears for his deteriorated mental state.

He has filed to divorce his 5th wife Victoria Duffy, aged 42,with whom he has a little girl aged 6 named Galen.
Is this not a rather cynical last-ditch,calculated move to get her out of his will? In any case,it would seem a rather unseemly and callous thing to do to his loving wife, but then Dennis Hopper has always been somewhat unpredictable.

How sad. He is such an interesting actor and it seems that his judgement is affected by medication and the cancer itself.

I've heard his name before but I don't think I've seen him in anything. I hope he pulls through.

He was never a major movie star, but he has face everyone would recognise. "Easy Rider" made him a cultural icon along with Peter Fonda, the other lead actor. Funny how life works sometimes. After that movie everyone expected Fonda to be the more successful. Jack Nicholson, who was a supporting actor, outdid them both by far, of course.

Yes,this is appalling,to make death threats against your wife. It's not as if he is playing "in character" when he is away from the film studios and at home in Venice Beach,Calif.

Here is a short but illuminating article and interview from August 1995,mostly about his art collection and how he moved back to Venice because he enjoys living among bums and beat artists:

I am so glad I am a nobody! The man is dying and his grown children are already thinking inheritance, pathetic!
