Kookabara sounds like Down Under-NOT by TERRY S on 8 February 2010 8:44am

To quote Sarah in Labyrinth: Of course it doesn't!!

Are you of the same opinion that this is just damn cheeky and that the people who sued are just a bunch of opportunistic money-grabbers? Especially as the original copywrite owner didn't seem to have a problem.

Oh how stupid. Those songs sound nothing alike. And so what if they do? Unbelievable.

The only clips of the Kookaburra song that I've been able to find seem to set out to show that the songs are nothing alike. The clips show that they obviously aren't.
However, the action centres on the flute riff which was integral to the success of 'Down Under'.
If anyone can find a clip that has the flute riff in the Kookaburra song, we can all reach our conclusions.

And here is the song that Men at Work are supposed to have ripped off....

There's a little similarity in the notes between seconds 53-59 in the Men at Work video and that's about it. Not enough to say they ripped it off. Still a good song!

BTW, while we're on this subject, has anyone noticed how the instrumental in the chorus to Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid sounds like the end theme to Dr Who (for best comparison use one from Peter Davison era)? Here are links to both, judge for yourself:

Dr Who:

I suppose there are only so many notes in the world and now and again they get recycled!! ;-)
