O/T - R.I.P. John Peel by Louise on 26 October 2004 8:31pm
Saddened to hear that JP has died of a heart attack at the age of 65.
Such a brilliant broadcaster!
They turned out some good blokes from Shrewsbury, didn`t they ...

michal palin was on bbc radio 5 live this afternoon paying tribute to him as they were in the same school shrewsbury for a while as lousie has pointed out . . i remeber hearing a bad bootleg of a john peel session by marillion very early in there careers . i think it was even before they had a record deal and fish was still the singer !
may he rest in peace .

It is sad. I was listening to the mind-numbing radio 1 this morn and it was so upsetting listening to the presnters' voices breaking a bit...

you can hear it on listen again on the radio 5 website (the palin interview that is).

EDIT: dont think it was the one you were on about.
