U2 on Jonathan Ross by Spursfan on 4 December 2004 12:34pm

Anyone catch the world's no. 1 group on Jonathan Ross last night? Stop being awkward - you know I mean U2 LOL!

They were fantastic (of course). I love the show anyway, and because I knew last week that U2 were going to be on, I recorded it on DVD. I tend to record everything that they're on if I can (sad person that I am!).

Anne (U2 fan for 20+ years)

Oh Diamond you've lost your shine. Biased towards Neil Diamond...well honestly. No argument then I'm afraid and although I respect your right to choose....bad choice!!!!
(anyway I'm a Bruce Springsteen fan so have my own flag to wave)

Anne I'm a fan of U2 I have to say I've followed their career over the years and unlike some of my friends I think their first songs like 'In the name of love' 'Where a street has no name' etc were great and have stood the test of time - however, I do think they've excelled themselves with 'All that you can't leave behind' and I love the power of Vertigo.....! Basically just a wonderful live band (charisma ya know).

I agree RaRA! I love 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and 'Pride (In the Name of Love)' plus lots of others from the period ('The Unforgettable Fire' is just stunning) but each 'era' has its own values. I particularly like 'Beautiful Day' and was in seventh heaven when it was adopted for the footie on ITV combining my two loves!!

I think Vertigo is their best single for ages.

They are good live but I feel their last tour was perhaps their best for a while, where they played smaller arenas rather than stadiums. Saw them twice in Leeds at a huge outdoor stadium (Zooropa and PopMart) but then saw them at a Manchester arena and thought it was the best I'd seen them.

(Incidentally, a highlight of our tour last year of Western US was visiting the Joshua Tree National Park!!!)

Unos, dos, tres, catorce
Turn it up loud, captain!

Yes I went to the Joshua Tree National Park some ten years back now with Trek America. We camped out and woke to a cold cold desert morning with Jack Rabbits hopping around and I have some fabulous pics of the sunrise. I loved it there. We roasted marshmallows over the camp fire - you know the kind you melt between waffer biscuits?

Glad you like U2 - I get much enjoyment from my music collection.

May I go O/T here and mention Michael Palin ;-) Love that Derry to Kerry bit where he talks to the Edge on the Dublin train.

I haven`t got HTDAAB yet, Santa`s going to buy it for me. Something I play in the car all the time is from a concert at The Point in 199?

Anne, have you read Eamon Dunphy`s "Unforgettable Fire"?
