RGS meeting on Sept. 30 by TomEdw on 5 October 2002 8:01am

Thank you Mr. Palin for the wonderful presentation at the Royal Geographical Society meeting on September 30th. As an RGS fellow based in the USA, I was fortunate enough to not only attend via a successful ballot selection but also be in London on business at the same time. What great fortune! Your talk was wonderful, funny, informative, and above all, a great example of how geography can be pursued, applied, and made fun in any place or time. Thank for allowing me to snap a picture at the signing table and for signing my copy of Sahara (which made a wonderful read on the flight back). I look forward to following your further adventures online, and hopefully again at some future live presentation.

Best regards,

Tom Edwards

I KNOW I'm being naughty. Can't help myself though!!!!!!!!

By the way, how SERIOUS is this posting?!

But . . . but . . . I'll cry! :-(

You will be happy to know Karen, you did not see me in the chat room. However, maybe missing you was a good thing because your "I DON'T LIKE SPAM!" can scare me!

Is there a scary smiley?

Well believe it or not, my originally posting was for REAL and is genuine, although I'm a Geographer working as an independent consultant now (http:///www.englobe.com). Thanks for responding, in whatever capacity. Keep on travelling...

Yes, it just shows that the 'palin effect' can last for years. We very briefly met Michael at a book signing and were impressed by his charisma.
