The best of the worst - political rant : ) by Katie J on 21 April 2005 4:30pm

I am yet to be 'claimed' by a political party...in my humble opinion they're all pretty rubbish in one way or another. I think it's a case of the best of the worst!

Labour have slipped to the right as far as I'm concerned and it's pretty difficult to tell them apart from the Conservatives!

The Conservatives have pretty much lost their way over the years and Howard is pretty desperate to drag them back (he's not having much success!)

I've been watching the morning question and answer sessions with journalists and I have to say that the politicians are not coming across very well.

Also, what is labour playing at by waiting for those reviews to come out - AFTER the election!?! It's amazing that a party can be elected without putting forward some of the most important parts of a manifesto! Specifically their lack of commitment to pensions is a worry (don't even get me started)!

The Conservatives are just as pants to be honest...but at least they have some solid proposals...but I'm not sure I trust them!....or Labour...

The two leaders give me the creeps! Blair is all sycophantic (the love affair with Brown is getting sillier by the day) ..with his cheesy grin and Howard is certainly a bit odd (he clearly finds it difficult to smile naturally!).

I have not mentioned the Lib Dems as I will never vote for them. Unrealistic goals...very good ideas but they would fall apart (in my opinion). Plus, what happened to Charles Kennedy the other day..I was really embarrassed for him when he stumbled so badly over his answers? I don't want someone like that in charge! A government is more than just its policies it's also the politicians!

Veritas is a joke...as is Kilroy Silk...the daft man!

I'm not interested in UKIP or GP either. I would rather lobby the government through pressure groups.

There you have it...ramble, ramble...

I think there should be a Palin Party!

Jolly good post too and I agree with it verbatim.

I loathe politics, I loathe liars and I loathe Blair, which is one in the same I suppose. He will eat your children folks.

I voted for them years ago when Screamin Lord Sutch stood as candidate in Stone, Staffs where I lived.

But that was about him rather than the politics!

Used to vote Socialist Workers Party too.

I'm not yet old enough to vote but i am old enough to recognize that Blair and most politicians are more of an idiot than a bent chair from ikea. Also whenever u turn on the t.v its Howards' said this and Labour disagrees'-But if i did vote for any1 it would be the Liberal democrats.

I never realised the Monster raving loony party were sooo bloody funny a few of my fave quotes below but the list could go on forever..heck where do i sign up!

~We pledge to reduce class sizes by making the pupils sit closer to one another and issuing them with smaller desks"

~We will issue a 99p coin to save on change.

~Rich people should be taxed to pay for the printing of money, as they use most of it.

~The Houses of parliament will be demolished and replaced by a mobile parliament. This will allow MPs to be picked up in the mornings if their cars wont start.

~Government Whips will only be used if a politician has been really bad. Minor offences should receive the political slipper.

~We will set up an enquiry to find out why theres a Polar bear on Foxs Glacier mints.

~The Millennium Bridge will be made wobbly again, by building a pub at either end.

~In future the National Anthem will be 'Bring Me Sunshine' as sung by Morecambe and Wise. It is quicker, more tuneful and people know the words. On state occasions Prince Philip will juggle his spectacles up and down and say, Hey! before the whole of the The Royal family do the dance off at the end. If the music can not be found because it was left in the pub then it may be substituted by The Hippo Song by Flanders and Swann.

~Nicola

I never knew how funny they are either. I remember hearing there was a Monster Party a few years ago, but completly forgot they existed.

It would be hilarious if they win one day.

harvey123, I liked your extract from the M.R.L.P manifesto.
I think if Michael decided to go into politics he could easily win a seat in parliament from an existing MP somewhere in the in the country. In fact, I have noticed, he is already an M.P.!

Has anyone seen the student house on Newsnight? There are about 7 students, with different degrees and they chat to the reporter who has travelled to Nottingham (I think).

It's really funny as the economics students are pretty clued up, there are a couple of floating voters and one of the girls seems more impressed with the way they look than their policies...it's great.

This week they cooked wraps for the reporter and he brought along a bottle of lambrini and political broadcasts!

This is the sort of thing I want to watch...it's informative but not dull as dishwater! I've seen lots of the political debates and like some lighter takes on the election...last night another news channel had a 'song' and cartoon (*ahem*) that described each of the parties' take on Iraq...RANDOM!
