A Letter from Budapest. by tucsonmike on 5 January 2006 6:09am

When I opened my email at five a.m. I thought I was delerious. It was a note, sent to my Toastmasters club through our group email from a Toastmaster in Budapest. He discovered Tucson and the Hungarian city of Pecs are sister cities and wondered about Tucson Toastmasters starting a club there. I wondered, who in the world is this, and why us?
Don't get me wrong, I was flattered. I only discovered later how he found my club. The power of the Internet.
Well, I got to make it into a speech tonight. Now, I have to explore what a sister city relationship means and how we can help. (Never say if, because if is already setting yourself up to fail).
Isn't part of the purpose of this site to reach out? Well, there you go...

How wonderful, Mike! Sometimes sister cities have contingents who visit each other. It would great if something like that eventually happened with your new contacts.

Thank you Patty. I have already had notes from the people who work on Sister City stuff here in Tucson. I was able to give the speech last night in my club and I think the interest is building.
I'll keep people informed.
