The CALGARY HERALD (Canada) says :John McCain is risking his shot at becoming President by choosing an inexperienced (2-years-only-in office)Governor of Alaska (Pop 670,000 only),a most northerly state of the Union, where it's all about huntin',fishin',loggin',minin',drillin' for oil,and not much else...How about a chorus now of "The Lumberjack Song...." lol

Let me provide some more articles to give everyone a better idea.

It is an interesting choice and controversial.

So is Sarah some distant relation? I think we should be told! But we have to get the Palin merchandise before its too late!

Canaveralgumbylady:Cori (-inne?)(-inna?)
Congratulations,Cori,on getting the guessing for McCain and Obama's running mates (14/15 August postings) pretty much right and on target.
Possibly the reason Democratic candidate OBAMA didn't opt for Jim Webb for V.P. was because he couldn't stand the song "By the time I get to Phoenix..."
However,Jim Webb was definitely our tucsonmike's favourite, and it would have pleased him even more if he'd sung "By the time I get to Tucson.."
Of course,if he'd sung "By the time I get to Anchorage..",he'd have probably gotten a bad case of frostbite, or likely been seen off by one those marauding giant polar bears....lol

I was fairly "on" with my guesses, huh? Sorry.

I would love to see more of Jim Webb in future. I hope the reason for his not being on the short list is NOT because they found something ugly about him when he was vetted.

(It's just Cori. My parents got the name off the coffee pot in the diner. Romantic.)

Yes, I wish it were Jim Webb. I genuinely admire Sarah Palin. She has an 80% approval rating in Alaska and complain as you may about her positions, she has the guts to back them up.
She is also genuine working class, her husband (a part Yupik Inuit) is still a commercial fisherman.
Therefore, she does have a lot to admire.

Re: Palin for Vice President [NOT silly] by MMMmmm... on 1 September 2008 12:35am

I have two friends who grew up in Wasilla (her town), and they know her and her family. They don't think she's qualified.

She doesn't even believe climate change is manmade - another president or vice-president like that is the last thing we need.

The latest estimate is that all the Arctic ice will be gone in 5 years.

That's very serious business. We don't need more average Americans with average intelligence running our country or we're doomed.

I'm sorry - but it's true - flat out - it couldn't matter more. This is it - we don't have time or resources to mess around any more.
