As a French person, I am horrified by the burger + Dom Perignon idea.
Damn, that's one of the best wines in the world!

Then, I agree, you should drink it eating something you love, but... a burger... yuk!

It's all tongue in cheek, sorta.

That's just wrong. Wasting good champagne on a burger? SHEESH!! I like a very occasional burger (every three months, thanks) or I make it with ground turkey or bison.
Just as bad was the sandwich from a Kansas City barbeque joint featured on Yahoo yesterday...4 pounds of meat. CAN WE WATCH THE PORTIONS,PEOPLE?

Amaia: I agree with you wholeheartedly, its a terrible idea and very offensive to the French, who are great and proud gastronomes. Would they ever do such a thing in France??

Elvis wasn't having a burger--he was having an ENORMOUS peanut butter and jelly sandwich with bacon! EW! EW! EW! Drinking Dom Perignon with that ought to be a mortal sin.

bIG--some people prefer Diet Coke to the regular stuff. It's not about the calories, they just like the way it tastes. It's the same way with Pepsi. I can't stand diet stuff--it tastes too sicky sweet to me. Real sugar tastes better.

mrsthing: Yes,I appreciate Elvis went to the Denver restaurant for that colossal peanut butter extravaganza, which he craved.

However,I think you will find that Elvis also loved bIG burgers, especially cheeseburgers made from American cheese, such as he got at the Gridiron Truckstop Restaurant on Highway 51 in Memphis.

I agree about the diet carbonated drinks. YUCK. And I prefer Pepsi over Coca Cola any day. "Coke" is much too sweet and syrupy for my liking.

Me too, Patty, but my friends who love Coke say the same thing about Pepsi. Must be like those litmus papers we had to chew on in biology class--some people taste them, some don't.
