I like your comment of 6.27pm WiA. I have a noise problem at work and they refuse to see that the distraction it causes reduces performance and disrupts concentration.
~
Oh well, if you multiply the score I predicted for the Germany Australia game by 4 you get it right.

That buzzing is enough to make a person neurotic.

Re: World Cup Predictions by johnnythemonkey on 14 June 2010 1:52am

Ken, we've exhausted your 'noise problem'. Ever thought that you are in a minority of one ?

I'd love to blow a vuvuzela right in your lugs !! :)

"Kazzz! What do you mean, ONLY A GAME!!! It may be to you my little antipodean bunny but it's life and death in the rest of the world. Even the Aussies and Kiwis are in on the action now, so don't give me any more of this 'only a game' stuff please."

Life and death??? I don't know anyone who died coz someone missed kicking a ball into a net.
*yawn*

For a couple of today's games:
Japan 1 - 2 Cameroon
Italy 2 - 1 Paraguay

Manager Bill Shankly is quoted as having famously said:

"Some people say that football is a matter of life and death.
I can assure you that it is much more important than that."

Re: World Cup Predictions by Ken Dunn on 14 June 2010 5:08pm

Got the Japan one wrong. 1 -0.

I think I'll change my predictions to all winning teams to win by one goal and all teams which draw to have the same number of goals each!
~
bb, I wonder was Shankly saying that some people would rather go to a football match than a funeral.

Re: World Cup Predictions by Wild in Africa on 15 June 2010 6:11am

I was thinking of that Shankly quote too BB and also the fact that is some countries (particularly in South America) it inflames such passions that indeed (Kazzz) people do sadly lose their lives over something as simple as someone failing to kick a ball into a net. I'm not in truth a fanatic and was deliberately winding Kazzz up but footie does have a life and death following in many countries.....and death might enter into the equation soon unless someone shuts those bloody Vuvuzelas up!

New Zealand 0 - 1 Slovakia
Brazil 2 - 0 North Korea

Try ear plugs and ear defenders WiA. I have found that cotton wool is a good start for a plug. Then there are the industrial plugs which can be rolled to shape and they expand into your ear. And finally the ear defenders. If it's really bad a combination of the cotton wool and the ear defenders can be tried.

I believe the Vuvuzela is rated at about 125dB. A combination of many would definitely make life difficult.
