Well I just know that on May 5th there is a far more important event than a General Election here in the UK and that's our Mike's birthday, so we are all voting for you and wishing you many more years of fun, travels and anything but a quiet sensible old age!

if you get a tummy ache
when you eat too much birthday cake
and you moan and groan and woe
don't forget I told you so!

(at least it's not rancid camel stew in the middle of the sahara)

anyway, happy birthday...

Happy Birthday Michael from one May baby to another! Here's to travel, home, family, warmth, love, and the people one meets in faraway places...may your passport be stamped for many years to come!

Dear Michael Palin,
I wish you a very joyful birthday and many more to come.

Dear Mr Palin have a very happy birthday - with lots of relaxation and no climbing of mountains!

I have only recently discovered your plethora of work and you have successfully managed to corrupt both my parents (of similar age to yourself) - especially with the fantastic Himalaya!

As I am relatively inarticulate I have 'stolen' the words of Augustine, "The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page", you have inspired me to read the book!

Thank you and happy birthday.

Regards, Katie J. B.

Hello Michael, as one of your number one fans in Arizona I thought of sending you a cactus. However, I would not want you to prick yourself, so I think that a heartfelt greeting will have to do. You are an amazing man and have brought a lot of happiness and laughter to many people. Have a wonderful birthday. You are truly the best looking 62 year old I have seen!
Sincerely, Erika

Here is a little limerick I wrote:
There once was a Python named Mike
Who traveled the world on his bike
Back on BBC he says, "Come, follow me!"
To places you're sure to like!

Hey we're all poets and didn't know it! Maybe Michael brings out the poet in all of us? lol
