I will be copying the thread on wednesday april 27th in the afternoon (Vienna time), so make sure you post at 1 pm GMT the latest, later may be too late. I will also post here whene I've copied the thread, so that you'll know if you've come too late.

..well, another year has gone by and I am STILL older than you are!! Glad that you will be continuing the travels...perhaps you will receive some new boots for your birthday. Best idea is to pack up some fine wine, a great single-malt and Helen and head for some peaceful location to celebrate! Have a happy one...cheers from Sharon in San Francisco
Re: MICHAEL'S BIRTHDAY MESSAGE THREAD by magz on 26 April 2005 1:11pm
just wrote my 1st poem since i left school ( sorry everyone will not do it again ! )

First it was python and then some ripping tales
Black puddings and the claw all mixed up but never any wails
My young family I have indocinated in the this kind of humour
But then I married a late baby boomer
Who has the same silly sense of humour.

At The missionary I had to laugh and then the fish called Wanda
Round the world in 80 days I sat in some awed wonder
Alas I am a an armchair traveller and I never get to wander
Yonder to your travels I watch
Dream of time to squander
And not have to be a bystander

Now I have infected my lack of poetry
Maybe I should take up some thing like dentistry
Then again some pain I would cause
So here I will pause
To say

Happy Birthday Michael Palin
Glad to hear the news
That the boots are still having some more tread
Enjoy the rest
Find a new quest
We never know where you're going to do next

Best wishes from my family

Oh dear! Do I have to be a poet or something? They didn't tell me when I signed in...must have been those words in tiny letters at the bottom...

Well, anyway, don't feel insulted if I wish you a happy birthday now because I won't be thinking of it on the 5th (hebrew exam, arghhhh!).
Happy birthday from France!
Joyeux Anniversaire de la part de mon petit pays! Best wishes! Meilleurs voeux! Et...sorry...and don't stop traveling, it makes me improve my English! (even if it's not always perfect).

Hiya Michael!
What more could I say than have a great birthday! Hope all your birthday wishes come true and don't party too hard in your young age. Have a great time off as well.
I don't have a poem prepared or any special kind of message from the Queen, just the goodness of my heart to send to you on a piece of paper, as I'm so underprepared!
Many thanks also for bringing laughs and fun memories to the people whose heart you reach out and touch.
All the best wishes to the future from your most devout fan in Perth, Australia!
Peace, love and hugs,
~Laura xxx

Dear Michael,

Just want to wish you a happy birthday. I hope you enjoy your day, and enjoy many more birthdays to come.

You really have inspired me to travel beyond Europe and see what else is out there. For that I am really grateful, and if you knew me, you would be impressed, as any type of outdoor activity results in me coming back home in a cast!!! Thank you for that.

Also, thanks for making us all laugh, on and off the screen. I was fortunate to meet you at the RGS in December, where I was bold enough to tell you I loved you. The look on your face I will never forget!! That really made me laugh.

I hope you enjoy your break, and keep travelling!!

With best wishes and much love,
London, England
