  The Chatter Box : Travel
school hosted travel exchanges by geoteacher on 28 February 2007 4:44pm
Hi! I am a committed geographer, high school geography teacher, traveller, Palinite and Pythonite. This makes for some lively classes! I live in South Africa, and would be intersted in chatting about the possibility of arranging, between schools, tour groups that are hosted by a host school while visiting another country. I feel that the students get a whole other view of a different culture if they are able to live in it as opposed to being just a tourist. We (my wife and I) already have a reciprocal arrangement with a school in Paris who are with us at the moment. We visited Paris last year and were hosted by them. Over the last three years, we have taken groups to India twice and France once. All wonderful and valuable experiences for the children. If you are a teacher and are interested in this idea, please come and chat about it over a cup of virtual coffee. If you are not a teacher and have no interest in this idea whatsoever, come and have coffee anyway!

geoteacher, I'm a freshman in college now, but this sounds like a fabulous and intersting idea!

What a neat take on exchange students! Wish my high school would have done things like this(I'm a sophomore in college).
