Remember How Lucky We All Are. by tucsonmike on 13 May 2007 5:06am

That we have computers and can email each other and all that other good stuff. In my company, there is an employee from Rwanda, and a man in my training class from Congo.

It turns out, they knew each other from Africa. That man in my training class was a refugee worker and teacher in Eastern Congo, the Rwandan, a refugee. My classmate ended up a refugee as well, so count how lucky we all are!

That connection would be a great basis for a novel or short story. Get to work on it, Mike!

Yes Mike, I am most grateful that my life is as good as it is. My worst day would still be a pleasure for many.

Computer communication is just a bonus, really. It is not possible to eat any better...I have more toys than I have time to play with them...my own patch of ground...shade from the sun, shelter fom the rain...a choice of clothing and shoes...I can go where and when I want, as far as I can...

I'm totally envious, Pete. Vancouver Island is my idea of heaven.

Lol! Geraldine. Actually, either a novel or I am considering having them add to the 9/11 book and then doing it in French.

Actually, cannot see why both could not be done.

When one has a privileged upbringing, it seems easier to complain about small things..

re computers I have been using them since I was 8 but I am still astonished at how the use of them is utterly changing modern life..

I agree, we all have it extremely well. No one should be complaining and yet we all are.

A revival of this thread. Just so we can express our gratitude that we have it as good as we do. OK, last month I had it better, but I can still be thankful for...for...the wheelchair loaned to me by The Red Cross. It's perfect for me and has saved me from getting even more bruises. My first day on crutches, last Monday, I fell three times! As I go down I tuck the injured leg up so it hits the floor last and my good side takes all the punishment.

I was unlucky a week ago Sunday. In the week before, I was lucky. I stopped on the beach while on a training ride, just to remind myself how lucky I am to be here, when I saw some commotion amongst the birds overhead. I thought it was a crow chasing an eagle away, but as they got closer, it was two eagles out of a crowd of them, five or more.

One of them was diving at the other repeatedly. They locked their talons, over a disputed piece of food, and spun toward the water. Amazing. They separated just before impact and kept on their flight path.
