Live shows.....you can't beat them. by johnnythemonkey on 1 August 2007 3:39am

The hotel I recently stayed in, on the outskirts of Dublin, was hosting a two week run of ' Lord of the Dance '. I had seen the show in Glasgow in the late nineties, when Michael Flatley was in it but it was hugely enjoyable to see it again. We were seated near the front of the stage and it was great to see the performers faces and almost feel their energy. There is something about dance that is special to watch. Almost makes me want to learn ! ( maybe Miss-M could teach me the tango ! )
As the cast were staying in the hotel, I met some of them a few times in the bar after the show on a couple of evenings. Some gorgeous girls !
It has rekindled my love of seeing 'live' entertainment of all types. We should all switch off the telly and get out more !!

i also really enjoy live shows,i have the 'Lord of the Dance'on video from the show at 'The Point'in Dublin a couple of years ago starring Michael Flately and never get tired of watching it,but i went to watch it 'live' at the Liverpool Empire two years ago with my wife Sue.It was awesome to watch those dancers exhibit their skills and the whole theatre had a buzz about it that could never be relayed through the t.v. screen,it was purely electric and magical.i have been to see my musical hero Mark Knopfler twice at the M.E.N Arena and cant get enough of that guy, and more recently ( may 9th actually) my wife, our 2 children and their partners and I went to see Lionel Ritchie, again at the M.E.N. Arena, what a performance he can put on,we were just buzzin for days after,he was awesome! So yes,JTM, there is no substitute for 'live' shows.

Quite so, for those who have never thought to venture to a `show`, why not! But, on a site like this I am sure most, if not all have. There was a show in the UK just a few years ago doing the rounds, `The Blues Brothers Tribute Show`, I saw it twice, 30 songs, all performed SOOO well, a delight to go to, everone was up on their feet all thorough the show. I have been to both extremes, My daughters School performance of Les Miserables, and, lucky enough to have won seats ON THE STAGE with the Rolling Stones at Twickenham this time last year on the Chris Evans Radio Show, Bothy of them excellent in their own ways..

As one of the lucky ones on this site who has seen 'Spamalot' all I will say to Karen & others who'll be going soon, it IS wonderful. I won't spoil anything by telling you the good bits (my favourite was a bit with Sir Lancelot in the second act, you will know which one when you see it).
I expect there's a whole new cast for Australia, but the leading-lady when we saw it (forget her name! She was good anyway) - well her mother was an opera singer in Eng. National Opera Chorus at the time of Eric idle appearing there as Ko-Ko in 'The Mikado' (which we saw, yes that dates me all right)- her mother had her photo taken with EI at the time of The Mikado & she (leading lady) was able to show it to EI at the time of the London rehearsals!
Anyway, do tell us your reactions when you've seen it. I wonder if EI will turn up for the first night anywhere?
